Some rooms have all the right ingredients—beautiful natural light, generous space, and architectural character—but need a fresh vision to bring them together. This bathroom was one of those spaces.
Originally, a large drop-in tub and its surrounding deck occupied much of the room, making the bathing area feel heavy. We reimagined the space with a lighter silhouette, rich color, and thoughtful details, transforming it into a cozy retreat with an elegant presence.
The centerpiece is a sculptural white freestanding tub. Its sweeping curves soften the room’s angles, while the open floor around it allows the window-lined alcove to shine. Removing the bulky tub deck completely changed the proportions of the space. Now, the tub feels beautifully framed by the architecture, with room to appreciate its shape from every direction.
Deep green walls give the room its inviting character. The color is rich and enveloping, creating an intimate atmosphere within a spacious room. Against that backdrop, the glossy white tub feels especially crisp, and the warm wood window trim adds a lovely sense of familiarity and charm.
Woven window shades bring another layer of warmth. Their natural texture softens the daylight, casting delicate patterns across the tub and surrounding surfaces. Together with the wood trim, they balance the polished finishes and make the room feel comfortable and lived in.
Soft neutral tile grounds the design. Its subtle linear movement adds texture without competing with the green walls or the tub’s graceful profile. Continuing the tile along the lower walls creates a cohesive backdrop that gently wraps around the bathing area.
The finishing touches connect traditional charm with modern elegance. A polished chrome tub filler, complete with classic detailing and a hand shower, lends a timeless quality beside the contemporary tub.
Above, a chandelier with cascading crystal details adds sparkle and a little romance. Its delicate form draws the eye upward, making the bathing alcove feel like a destination.
A wooden bath tray and plush green rug complete the scene with simple, welcoming comforts. You can easily imagine settling in with a favorite book, warm water, and a quiet moment at the end of a busy day.
What makes this transformation so beautiful is the balance: spacious yet cozy, polished yet welcoming, and full of character. Every finish contributes to a room that feels thoughtfully composed—and wonderful to spend time in.
